not likely!

That is the general idea around Scoble’s theory that Mahalo, Facebook and Techmeme will top google in a few years.

Robert Scoble took a few days off to come up with this theory, meaning he did think it through. Or at least that is what I am thinking, because I would hate to think that he put it out without thinking a long time about it.

Because at the current rate, there is no chance a 20-editor directory, a social network popular just in the US and a site popular among blog geeks are going to overthrow a billion dollar machine.

    never going to happen.
this is how ask.com used to work in the old days, yahoo too. Dmoz is also dying.
I use google on a daily basis to find info on various subjects that I could never find on a user edited directory.
Take for example some weird error I get when installing or compiling some open source software. If someone else got the same thing they surely didn’t go to mahalo and edit a page about it. I bet the first thing they did was ask the developers on the mailing list of that certain project. Google would index the archives in about 1-2 days and it would take me to the right result.
